Reds, Yankees, and Rays are drinking champagne.   Share

29 September 2010

The Reds clinched their division in dramatic fashion with a walk-off home run.  The Yankees and Rays both clinched playoff spots as they won and eliminated the threat of the Red Sox (who were really eliminated way back when… if you remember my article).

Some post game discussion of the Reds’ success pointed to the brawl against the Cardinals as the spark that got them going.
Three teams (San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and Atlanta Braves) are all still competing for the last two spots in the National League.

One liner: "of all the teams in the playoffs, the Yankees are struggling the most.  If the season started on August 1st, they’d be in last place in the AL East!"
